FAQs

Great question. The fast answer is that Stage Sync™ products are digital sync files with no content pre-loaded. The files are unlocked and ready to drive your audio tracks, videos, or other digital assets.

If you plan to bring digital files onstage for your performance (video, backing tracks, light programs, etc) you will need to sync those digital assets with your live performance. Historically each ensemble makes its own sync, but it is not a perfect solution. Click tracks are restrictive. Manual cue firing is clunky and accident prone. And who has the time to make really great sync files?

Muséik has been driving digital content with the world's most advanced digital sync for ten years. No click tracks, no manual cue firing; just an elegant and artistic sync that makes everybody's life so much easier.

Until now Muséik only worked on pre-licensed content from the Winters Media Library. But today Stage Sync™ unlocks our world class sync and makes it available to you for your audio tracks, video, light programs, or any other digital assets.

Simply download the Muséik software (its free) and purchase the Stage Sync™ you need (a subscription is required). When you open the Stage Sync™ Show File in Muséik you will have the ability to load in your own video and/or audio files. Once they are loaded just hit "play" and control your digital assets with the same precision and flexibility you have come to expect from Muséik.

Need to make an edit or swap out files? No problem. Simply load in the new files and you are all set. Just need to fire light cues and don't need audio or video? Also no problem. Write your light program, connect Muséik to your light board, and fire away! The video and audio bays will be empty, but you will deliver your light cues with an easy precision never before possible.

OK, now we are getting into it. The amazing sync delivered by Muséik and Stage Sync™ does not just happen. It requires careful preparation of your digital files before loading them into the program. When you order a Stage Sync™ file you will receive a folder full of assets.

First there will be a .mov file. This video contains the scrolling score that is the Muséik secret sauce. If you are creating a video you can load this .mov file into your project and use it to build your files to play perfectly inside Muséik. The .mov file contains both the scrolling score video and the sync audio. It is very important to use the sync audio provided with your Stage Sync™ purchase.

Next, that .mov video contains both millisecond and SIMPTE timecode data. If you are building light cues just play the .mov in QuickTime or some other video player. You will be able to see and hear the score and collect the millisecond or SIMPTE data you need to write your light program.

Third, your product will come with a .wav file that contains just the sync audio. If you are building backing tracks or sfx in a DAW just lay in the .wav and use it as a guide to build all your audio tracks.

Building or editing your digital files to match our sync is a critical step in producing a successful performance, but once you get the hang of it it is really easy. And your digital sync will be perfect every time.

Every Stage Sync™ purchase comes with a folder of helpful assets. These include:

  1. The stage Sync™ Show File you will load into Muséik for performance.

  2. A .mov video file that contains the scrolling score, sync audio, and millisecond and SIMPTE timecode data.

  3. A .wav audio file that includes the sync audio used in the Stage Sync™ file.

First, decide what music or other material you want to sync on stage. Then shop for the Stage Sync™ that matches your material here on this site. Each Stage Sync™ entry will include details like score form and how each fermata or other irregular tempo event is handled in the sync.

Next make sure you have an active Muséik subscription. You won't be able to order a Stage Sync™ product without the subscription. Then order the Stage Sync™ file and Muséik software.

Use the sync prep materials to prepare your digital assets. Refer to the Knowledge Base for helpful articles about how to create or edit your digital files for use with Stage Sync™.

Then just load your files in and hit "play."

We recognize that it is impossible to offer a digital sync for every possible live performance. But we work hard to make it as easy as possible to get the exact sync you need.

Step One: Search the published syncs listed on this site.

Step Two: Search the list of Unpublished Stage Syncs™ (link is on the Stage Sync™ Collection page). We have literally hundreds of syncs that have been built over the years and it will take us a long time to publish them all as Stage Sync™ products. If you find what you need in the list of unpublished syncs chances are very good that we can publish the Stage Sync™ in time for your performance with no extra cost.

Step Four: Talk to us. If you need material that is not on any of our lists or if you need a custom sync (changes to the form or sync audio) we can work with you. A paid Muséik subscription comes with deep discounts on our production services. If the material you need is something we want to publish for our other customers we can create your Stage Sync™ file for free or almost free.

In short, we will do whatever we can to create custom Stage Sync™ files or modify existing syncs according to your needs . And we pledge to do the work in a budget friendly way!
